Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · 5 IN A ROW


The Lady Lions won their 5th game in a row by beating Stephenson 6-0.  The score was 0-0 at halftime.  In the second half Jasmine Mathis scored 4 goals. Ayanna Parish scored twice and added an assist. Kennedy Mayer, Jamila Nicholson, and Asya Willis had assist as well.  Goalie Jada Cunningham had 3 saves.  The lady lions haven’t lost or even been scored on in five straight games.

The King Lion soccer team were victorious over over the wolverines of Miller Grove. The final score Was 10 goals to 0 which gives the team their second mercy victory in a row. Senior Samuel Lampley led the team in scoring with 5 goals. Senior captain Emmanuel Stallcup scored 3 outstanding free kick goals and had 5 assist. Senior captain Eric Stallcup had one goal and sophomore Moses Osinowo once again scored the final goal to send the wolverines home.

Multiple Teams · Voted Most Athletic


The 2017 Senior class has voted Andres Wyatt and Synebia Martin as most Athletic.  Andres plays point guard for our basketball team and corner for the football team.  He also takes snaps at quarterback from time to time. Synebia plays outfield on the softball team, and striker for the soccer team. She also kicked field goals for the varsity football team her junior year.  Congrats to them both!

The win against Stone Mountain high school was when my team and I realized what we are really capable of and can do when we work as a team. One of our underclassmen “Chain” really stepped up and pitched a great game.

The Lady Lions Track team had 3 key departures from last season as Courtney Franklin, Shaviana Oliver (a key member of the 4×100 team), and Ivy Mcdonald (7th best long jumper at Dekalb County meet )all graduated:

Courtney Franklin: Finished 4th in the county and 7th in the state in the 300m Hurdles with a time of 45.89.  She was also a member of the 4×100 team that qualified for the state meet and the 4×400 team.

The key returners are Ayanna Dennis, Kayla Hunt, and Taleeba Martin:

Sr. Taleebah Martin: should be the best 300m hurdler in the county and possibly the state.  She runs it in about 45 seconds.  She finished 2nd at the county meet last year and 5th at the state meet.  She’ll also be returning on this years 4×400 team.

So. Kayla Hunt: finished 4th in the county in the 100m as a freshmen, with a time of 12.41.  She runs the 200m in 25.6 and is also a part of last years 4×100 team that qualified for state.

Jr. Ayanna Dennis: runs the 400m in 58.0, and is on the 4×400 and 4×100 relay teams.  She also competes in the 300m hurdles.

The Lady Lions Soccer team has won their 3rd game in a row.  They beat Miller Grove 7-0.  Jr. Jasmine Mathis scored 4 times.  Sr. Synebia Martin had a goal and 3 assist.  Jr. Sarai Huguley and Sr. Nina Shaw Scored as well. Goalie, Daniella Shoneye, got her second consecutive shutout.

The MLK boys soccer team was led by the twin senior captains, Eric and Emmanuel Stallcup, and junior captain, Geriel Jennings, to a 10-0 victory over Southwest DeKalb  High school. Senior captain Emmanuel Stallcup started off the game right with an absolutely stunning free kick goal and and had 5 assists that night. Senior Samuel Lamptey led the team in scoring with 5 goals and had 2 assists. Senior Captain Eric Stallcup was right behind him with 3 goals of his own and had 2 assist. Sophomore Moses Osinowo scored the final goal that finished off the Panthers. Goal keeper Donovan Corbett had a shut out game with 9 saves.

The girls soccer team beat rivals South West Dekalb 9-0.  Jasmine Mathis lead the team with 5 goals and 2 assist.  Ayana Parrish had 2 goals, while Synebia Martin scored once.  Sarai Huguley scored once to go along with her 3 assist.  Goalie Daniella Shoneye had a shutout in her first start.  GO Lions!

 Comeback Win!

On Monday February 13,2017 the baseball team had there first game against Salem High School (Conyers, Georgia). It was a very hard fought game with a lot of runs being scored. Our lions were down 12-2 in the 3rd inning . We rallied all the way back up and took the lead by the 5th inning 13-12 . The whole entire team had good performances on the field. One key play that occured during the game was that, Nedrick Flemister hit a solo Home-run. His first of many Home-Runs this year. The final score was Our Lions 17, Salem 12. Our baseball team look to continue this great start and make this year a great baseball year.

The Lady Lions Soccer team got their first win of the year.  They beat Lithonia 10-0.  Jr. Jasmine Mathis scored 7 goals.  Sr. Alecia Collins added a goal and 3 assist.  Sr. Amanda Bell and Jr. Sarai Huguley scored as well. Synebia Martin and Nina Shaw each had 2 assist.
